He studied Economics from the University of St. Gallen and also got his PhD in Economics from the same university, University of St. Gallen.
Markus Venzin is presently Professor for Global Strategy at the Management Department of Bocconi University and Senior Lecturer at SDA Bocconi. He is the Director of the Master of Science in International Management at Bocconi University. Markus Venzin was the chair of the organizing committee of the Academy of International Management Conference 2008 at Bocconi University. He held visiting positions and teaching assignments at University of Michigan, Fudan University (Shanghai), Copenhagen Business School, Essec (Paris), ESADE (Barcelona), Steinbeis University (Berlin) and St. Gallen University.
Markus Venzin research interests are in the areas internationalization strategies, the management of subsidiary network of international companies, global knowledge management systems as well as the development of formal planning and control processes.
Some of his current research projects are the study of global knowledge sharing systems of the cement industry, internationalization processes of retail banks, export strategies of small and medium sized firms, innovation and cross-border commercialization of financial service products and the logic and process of cross-border mergers and acquisitions of banks.
